In to the cube
Without further ado the stem of the cutting is pushed firmly down into the cube.
 
I like to make sure at least three quarters of the stem is within the cube as this gives a larger area which is able to create roots.  And big roots is where its at!
 
Just before the picture was taken I cut the ends off all of the leaves.  This is actually quite an important detail which will make a massive difference to your success rate with cuttings.
 
So when we snip the cutting of the plant, even though it has no roots, it carries on transpiring moisture out through the leaf undersides.  This isn't a good situation so to minimise this, we simply minimise the amount of leaf area there is to transpire.
 
Less area = less transpiration = less moisture lost.
